“Hello, my name is Parker Morrison, and I was honoured to be a recipient of the 2023 National Youth Climate Activism Award for my community project, the Riparian Restoration Project in Kamloops, British Columbia.
To me, the NYCAA is not just an award — it highlights the incredible environmental work and stories of students from across Canada. It connects activists and creates a vision of hope for the future of environmental action around the country.
The legacy that comes with the award can inspire other students to make their own ideas a reality.
Since 2023, I have been working toward my degree in Biology and the Restoration of Natural Systems at the University of Victoria. Being involved in restoration here has allowed me to participate in incredible opportunities with restoration groups across Vancouver Island.
I continue to be inspired by community efforts focused on terrestrial, marine, and riparian restoration.
The support from NYCAA has been amazing, and being connected to other activists has created an interconnected community like no other.”
