“Hi, my name’s Finnegan, and I’m a 2023 alum of the National Youth Climate Activism Award.
For me, the best part about winning the award is the community. Sometimes it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, or even apathetic, about the state of our planet. But being part of the NYCAA community connects me with other young climate leaders across Canada and reminds me that I’m not doing this work alone.
When I see initiatives like Malika’s work in the Northwest Territories to activate youth, the e-waste drives that Alex and his brother are organizing in Ontario, or how Quinn in Nova Scotia and Renée in British Columbia are using poetry to connect with people’s hearts and minds, it gives me real hope that solutions are within reach.
Youth across Canada are responding to the climate crisis in diverse and meaningful ways. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this community and to see the genuine impact we are creating together.”
